Barbara Wells, PhD, RDH

Dr. Wells is a Health Services Researcher whose association with NHLBI began over 25 years ago as an investigator on NHLBI-funded community intervention studies. At the time, she was a research faculty member at Brown University’s Program in Medicine. Dr. Wells has a long history of leading health outcomes research projects conducted in numerous clinical settings, many of which focused on medical care delivery to underserved, minority and/or low-income patient populations. In addition to research experience in cardiovascular disease and its risk factors, she did a three-year, postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Wells’ programs at NHLBI include randomized clinical trials targeting adult and pediatric obesity in medical settings. Her research interests also include ecological analyses, health IT areas, and health disparities.
